Testimonial from Alan Paris In 2001, Jon Sayer built my boat, BTC Velocity, which was designed and built to compete, but most importantly, complete, the Around Alone 2002-2003 single handed race. The painstaking attention to detail that Jon displayed during this process made my stopovers in each port painless - up to a point where I often arrived in near last position. Jon did not design the boat (smile), so with limited time and resources, Team BTC Velocity was ready to start before many other of the teams, who were still sticking their boats back together Jon is also able to improve on and design systems that enhance another designers plans - based on his significant offshore experience. I spent 60 days in the Southern Ocean during the Around Alone race and was subject to all imaginable conditions - Jon's little improvements made a world of difference. Thanks Jon...... BTC Velocity, a Jutson 40 design, was built in a female stringer mould from Divinycell foam, FGI epoxy 300 Resin series and a mixture of Biaxial-Triaxial-Duplex Kevlar and "E" glass stitched clothes. The female stringer mould enabled us to complete the total interior with all reinforcing, bulkheads and internals fully finished to have the same built method of deck to be fitted. With a fully completed structure, the last job was glass the outer hull and deck skins. This method enabled an accurate hull form because of its total build in the mould jig and was more economical than making plugs as in Team fgi |
